I just want to use this medium to first and foremost appreciate my heavenly Father for giving me a Sister in Ugonna Sylvester-Ogan, I am blessed with 3 beautiful children two of whom are defeating asd daily, I remember nights of physical despair and tears asking God to forgive me my sins and heal my babies who where both nonverbal and displaying strong signs of asd, at a point I prayed God send me a helper as raising two children on the spectrum then seemed to me a herculean and impossible task...I remember shortly after that prayer receiving a call from my sister in law in her words, Oge you need to watch channels now, there is a lady giving a powerful interview I feel you should listen to. I tuned in and the rest they say is history...I devoured her book defeating autism and sent Sister Ugonna an email, she replied and since then has been a confidante, mentor, sister in christ and of blood...as of now I have never met her in person but her mentorship, advice , prayers with me and for me can only be summed up in one word Godsent..she is an embodiment of Philipians 1.vs 3 for me and I thank my heavenly Father for the gift of her life, her book and her friendship/mentorship, My both children right now to the glory of God are verbal and we have been honoured by God with our 3rd child who is named Ugonna Meghan Onu, in recognition of her Namesakes presence in our lives, there is so much light at the end of the tunnel and i remain thankful to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for this process and experience.

Defeating Autism as well as the author of the book helped me understand the moral and spiritual aspects of being a parent. It enhanced my faith and built my resilience in looking at the future of my kids.

I heard about the book “Defeating Autism” from my Dad who saw Ugonna’s interview on TV. I quickly googled the name and found Ugonna’s Facebook page. She was very kind to respond and even give me a call. I purchased the the book and it was the light that I needed at a time of deep despair. My faith in my child’s healing was renewed by reading about Ugonna’s story. She is genuinely passionate about helping children and families affected by Autism. Today, I can call Ugonna a friend and she always seems to check up on my child when we need the boost in faith. 💖
Also, the bible passages referenced in the book feature in my prayers for my children. 💖SADE, UK
My name is Maureen Ohuche, the book (Defeating autism) by Ugonna Sylvester-Ogan has made a positive impact on me on parenting my children especially my 4 years daughter that is autistic.
Her counseling also encouraged me a lot not to lose hope on them and also to know that every child is born with a specific gift from God. That our job is to help them to achieve and showcase that gift in them .
It has also taught me to be patient with children, especially with the special ones.
Not to use negative words on them, I have learnt that not every behavior and characters our children possesses are normal, that there're some we need to tackle with prayer. My prayer and faith level has increased since I read her book and there's a lot of changes and improvement on my daughter too.
Her hyper activeness and restless has reduced, she can write a bit, though not fully communicating. I also believe that my daughter will defeat this challenge because the bible says in Rom10:22 that the gifts of God makes rich and added no sorrow.

Hello Sister Ugonna,
From a combination of your prayers/counselling/book I have learnt to be patient and remain persistent not to compare my child with others and know that he has his our path to follow in life. I have learnt faith and endurance while yet remaining persistent in teaching him new skills no matter the level of strives he may reach at that particular moment trusting and knowing that God never fails and his promises in the holy scriptures stands that as for me and my household we are made for signs and wonders.
I also as a parent keep learning and never stop learning from various counselling and books like yours as well as many others success stories as to the tools, strategies, skills and prayers they used. As well as learning from professionals as well. Thank you.

I was a desperate parent! I was researching for cures and therapies all over the place; I became overwhelmed and no approach felt quite right. I felt as though my child was becoming worse and I gave up many times. I came across the book 'Defeating autism' - this book was different to the other books and articles I've read online. I got in touch with Mrs Sylvester- Ogan and booked for counselling sessions. This is the best thing I could have ever, my only regret is I should have spoken her sooner. Mrs Sylvester-Ogan, understood all my frustration and concerns [she has been there]. She provided me practical, emotional and spiritual solutions that felt right and suited my values. Mrs Sylvester-Ogan is still very much holding my hand through it all - She is calm and patient in her approach. I can honestly say I have grown spiritually and become a more confident mother with her guidance .

Hi Ugonna,
I purchased and read your book towards the end of last year and it was a great eye opener. It really made me rethink and change my approach in raising my 2 kids labelled to be on the spectrum. Prioritizing prayer along with strong faith and letting God direct me has really made a difference. Prior to reading your book, I had put my entire hope in the therapy services and that to me, was the only thing I thought could make a difference. Your story and testimony of faith, resilience and victory completely changed my mind set and fuelled my faith. There has been great progress especially with my oldest son, and I know that victory is already mine because one thing I learnt from reading your book was never to relent in my faith and prayers over the lives of my children. Incredible book and a must read for every parent with children on the autism spectrum or any kind of developmental challenges.

Your book brought a lot of hope for me. I had lost hope that things may not be better until I heard you talk on your book during COVID on channels. I further read the book and got across to you. I usually use your kids as points of contact for my son believing that the phase will pass.. I particularly learnt to keep waking at nights, praying for him, speaking to him and correcting him positively when he errs at any point in time.

Your book defeating autism inspired me a lot, it taught me to first accept my son as he is, be patient with him and above all be very prayerful.

I've actually been confessing Isaiah 53 :14 over my children since I finished reading your book. I also got inspired to pray more for my daughter.
God bless you real good

Defeating Autism was one of the books I read that constantly reminded me that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. It was encouraging to see how the Lord restored 3 boys completely from the shackles of Autism and that strengthened my faith even more which has been a sustaining factor in my current journey with my daughter.

I was introduced to Mrs Ugonna Sylvester Ogan by a friend. She recommended her book; Defeating Autism, to me which I bought and read. I can’t say how much of a blessing this book was to me. Ugonna spoke directly to my heart with that book and addressed most of my fears and concerns regarding my 3 year old son. It was so enlightening and opened my eyes to the possibility of complete recovery for my son.
I was also able to gather some practical tips from reading her book and speaking with her that I’m putting into practice to practice with my son and hoping for best results.

Good afternoon. I used your book as a gift and usually forward your posts to those who have children with autism.

I read the book defeating autism when my son was about 4 with so much of anxiety on my mind, worried for his future with all the obvious signs of autism and hyperactivity. After discussing and reading the book, I discovered I had a lot to do .Prior to this, I prayed but got tired. After reading the book, I picked the point that I shouldn't stop praying as with time, I will see changes. The example of a Fan switched off struck me, as we all know powering off a fan won't stop it immediately, but will gradually slow down and stop. I also added speaking positive words and confession into his life..My son is 7 now, with speech and better communication, more improvements, and daily assurance of the hand of the Lord upon his life. I learnt that a lot is settled in the spiritual, which translates into the physical.

Your book Defeating Autism is really very helpful in parenting my daughter. Your experience built up my faith and I am hopeful that my daughter will be permanently freed from autism in due time.
Your advice and encouragement has helped me and made me to understand that I am not alone in this course. I have somebody I can always talk to.
And I told God that if He can do it for you, that He will as well do it for me .I am hopeful. My daughter is progressing.

My son was diagnosed to be autistic at 18months .Even as a bedside nurse I’ve not nursed any autistic child .I know people have such children but shame won’t let them come out and seek for help.
The day my son was diagnosed my whole life came out of me staring at me, like I don’t have an iota of what to do or turn to ….like everything literally became bleak .
So I started paddling my canoe waiting for a miracle .But deep down me I needed someone to talk to.
So this very day I walked into the sitting room and I just tuned into Channels TV. And a guest was introduced on the next program and the person was Mrs Ogan ( a sister I gained through motherhood)
And I listened to her stories and her journey through raising 3 boys that had symptoms of autism, turned to men of valour.
And she wrote a book narrating her journey through the storms. That very night I ordered for mine, and I told her specifically I don’t want DHL delivery to my location .
She took her time and took the book to the garage and sent a copy to me.
“Lo and behold” I read the book back to back like three times and I digested everything .And I also gave to my caregiver .We both read it and discussed the solution there in. And since then it has been a sweet journey raising my now 5 year old son
My son is not only verbal ….he’s the voice.
We are not there yet .
But I’m so hopeful that God who started a new thing will surely perfect it in Jesus name, Amen.
And this is to all our super mummy raising their wards
I bet you you’re raising a giant, don’t relent in your motherhood journey, God is with you all .

Your book and your interview on channels tv made a very great positive impact in parenting my child, the very first day I came across your interview and after reading your book I became relaxed because you made me believe more on what God can do.
So it helped me to keep praying for my son and since then I see a lot of improvement in him, this is a boy that could not write but he has started writing and started doing things that he could not do before.
I see God doing a lot of things in his life.
I am so happy that I met you online.

My husband met my aunty Ugonna first, then I did and then read her book, Defeating Autism. The book was a real eye opening. Ever since then, she has taken such an intense interest in David's progress even more than we his biological parents.
Indeed, aunty Ugonna is my God sent mentor after some years of praying for one. I met a really loving and a little more elderly lady before her who I thought was the answer to my prayers, but there was no connection even when I really wanted to be close to the lady.
Relating with aunty Ugonna for David's progress is certainly divine, the connection was easy, and we give all the glory to God.
Our son David's full testimony is a work in progress and materialises without scar in Jesus mighty name.
With aunty Ugonna's constant help and especially through prayers we have been able to work with a home teacher who has helped to improve David writing a few letters, phonics sounds, numbers plus some counting. In the beginning, it was difficult getting him to write anything at all. We are not there yet, but very hopeful with God.
Aunty Ugonna uses her money to personally purchase helpful materials for David and would regularly ask questions to monitor his general progress and in school.
She sacrifices her time a lot to pray for David and many times with my husband and I, even when it is obviously not convenient for her. Once we ask her to join us in prayers, she will always be at the prayer meeting before us and always work with our time despite her very busy schedule.
She is ever ready to talk about whatever can help with David's progress even if she has to fight with me to do the needful.
We have never paid a dine for her several hours of counselling, sleepless nights inclusive but we trust God to appreciate her soonest although only God can truly pay her.
KAJO, Lagos.
